Under the direction of Ralph Wilson, Miles spent many hours learning to take photographs and develop his own film at the Williamsport Community Darkroom in Williamsport, Pennsylvania's Pajama Factory. 

Ralph generously allowed Miles to experiment with cameras, film, and special techniques for making photographs like pinhole cameras. The Darkroom was one of Miles's favorite places. 

The Darkroom continues to hold classes for photographers at all levels of expertise, including beginners.
